Explaining the digestive system

Can you explain the functions of the different parts of the digestive system? Year four have started thinking about how they can explain what happens in each part of the system to get ready for our interactive explanations.

We worked really hard together to write about what happens in the mouth, take a look at some of our shared writing. We had to use conjunctions for time and also for cause and effect, can you spot them?

What happens to the food we eat?

We have started our new science topic all about the human digestive system. We have investigated the different type of teeth humans have and what their different functions are.

We have also started to think about the other parts of the digestive system and their jobs. We used our magic tshirt to look inside our bodies and see the organs that make up the digestive system. It was fun using the seesaw app to label the bits we now know!

We are going to be writing an explanation of each part of the digestive system this week and creating an interactive guide for you to watch.

Well done to:

Wiktoria, Charlotte T and Ava

Ellis, Lewis and Jack A

Abi, Charlotte P and Niamh T

Jamie, Lukas and Jack B

Who have all completed their labelled diagrams so far! They are fab!

Which angle is which?

This week we are working on angles and today we learnt about the difference between an obtuse angle, an acute angle, a right angle and a reflex angle.

We had to sort them out by their size and describe each one accurately.

Green screen

We have been working hard on writing speech over the last few weeks and are now really confident in punctuating speech. We took a trip to a desert island (via green screen) to interview some characters from Shakespeare’s ‘The Tempest’.

Video’s coming soon!
